Wynne yelland

Principal Emeritus

Wynne grew up inspired by architecture in a mid-century house designed by Carter Sparks, an architect friend of his parents. When Carter was over at the house, he’d lie down on the floor with Wynne, stacking blocks to zoom Matchbox cars recklessly up and down the paths. Wynne was later inspired as he spent college summers as a carpenter and his post-Harvard years working as an architect project manager for an architecture/design/fabrication shop in Somerville, MA welding, rebuilding bicycles, forging steel, and erecting commercial projects.

From gutting and rebuilding a house for his family to teaching himself to snowboard (at 40!) in order to coach his sons’ freestyle team, Wynne feels learning is fundamental to creating. He enjoys leading LOCUS’ religious, commercial, and industrial projects, and working with groups and organizations to help them realize their potential.

Wynne is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and Harvard University, lives in Minneapolis with his wife and children, and rides a bike to work when he can.
